Our Story
A Firefighter's Invention for Cleaner Combustion
The invention originated from the idea and determination of Ylivieska firefighter Pasi Sillanpää to combine safety, efficiency, and savings in more environmentally friendly heating. The idea got off the ground inside a live fire in a firefighter training tank – no human can get any closer to investigating the secrets of fire.
The LumoX story began in 2018, when Pasi's son Jaakko Sillanpää decided to commercialize his father's invention and founded FinnWarma Oy.

A fire dancer in your own fireplace
20 years ago, wood pellets were on the rise. Almost every village blacksmith was wondering how to get the pellets to burn in their own fireplace. Ylivieska firefighter Pasi Sillanpää was not satisfied with the solutions available on the market and decided to develop a product himself.
Firefighter training was a great help at this stage, as Sillanpää got to examine fire and its behavior as closely as possible in his work. “I got to see how smoke gases ignite, how hot the flames rise in real conditions, and what really happens inside the burning object.”
A thought worth considering: how could combustion gases be made to burn efficiently in the firebox as well? How to utilize all that potential heat energy that is available from the combustible materials?

The phenomenon is known among firefighters as a fire dancer. It occurs when air is directed to the right place inside the burning object, gets hot enough, and the smoke gases flash. This beautiful phenomenon can now also be seen in your own fireplace – then a clean flame dances joyfully over the logs.
Sillanpää's first invention for pellet combustion was born already ten years ago. It has been further developed over the years, and as a result of the development work, an entire LumoX product family for both wood and pellet use has been born. The idea of clean and safe combustion has not died out: products are continuously developed, and new ones will be brought to the market in the future.
